Foxhunters Camp

White Horse Farm, Quinton, Virginia

 

    This will be a one-day equestrian camp, with ground and mounted sessions, to introduce riders to the sport of foxhunting.  The sessions will include hunting etiquette guidelines, as set forth by the Masters of Foxhounds of America, and some situations encountered in the hunt field. 

   Riders will be divided into two groups. Hilltoppers are the non-jumping group for those who can walk and trot under control.  Hunting Hopefuls are those riders cantering and jumping under control.   Attire is casual, however, riding helmet and riding shoes are required.  Gloves are recommended.

   Bring your horse. We will furnish lunch and drinks. During lunch, a presentation will be conducted by Colonial’s hunt staff, on the “Do’s & Don’ts” of foxhunting.  Colonial’s Huntsman/ Master Michele Schultz will exhibit the Colonial Hounds at the close of the day.

       Participates will receive a certificate to hunt with Colonial, as a guest, during cubbing season this October 2010.

   Bring your own horse or lease one from White Horse Farm.  Request for leased horses must be made by June 1, 2010 by calling Michele Schultz at (804) 932-4684.  The lease fee for each horse will be $45.00, in addition to the cost of the camp fee.  Please make lease fee check out to White Horse Farm.

   The non-refundable pre-registration camp fee is $90 and $100 registration on day of the camp.  Deadline for pre-registration is June 10, 2010.  Return a completed attached release and waiver of liability, copy of your own horse’s Coggins and the registration form.  Make check payable to Colonial Fox Hounds Hunt.
